Man behöver inte leta sig ut i kosmos för att hitta den perfekta discon. De marina invånarna är dessutom ofta minst lika spännande som de utomjordiska. Fast söndagar som dessa, när fräknar åter finner sin plats, låter jag mig gärna svepas med av vilka vågor som helst!
Abstract: The marine aliens programme has focused on seven invasive non-native marine species that exist in the UK and pose a threat to species and habitats listed in the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. These species include:the Chinese Mitten Crab Eriocheir sinensis, the sea squirt Styela clava, the brown algae Sargassum muticum and Undaria pinnatifida, the green alga Codium fragile subsp tomentosides, the caprellid amphipod Caprella mutica and the sea squirt Perophora japonica. The programme aims to map their current distribution, predict their spread and impact on native biodiversity, identify potential control methods and to raise awareness of their presence in UK coastal waters.
